Genovese Basil

2024 was a more limited gardening year because I had had a hip arthroscopy in the winter. So I had only planted a few small basil plants. We missed having lots of basil for pesto and dried leaves for cooking.

I planted a lot of basil seeds in 2025--far too many. We had an entire raised bed full of Genovese basil and gave away several plants. We now have half a freezer full of pesto and many quart jars of dried basil in the pantry. So we're glad to share this robust Italian herb with you that is the very essence of summer. Enjoy!
